For those out there who wonder, what is Ghost? Ghost is a Swedish metal band formed in 2008 in Linköping. The five musicians wear identical, face-concealing costumes, they are called the Nameless Ghouls. The vocalist also wears a specific outfit, he’s dressed as a demonic pope with skull face paint. He’s called Papa Emeritus. Each album brings a new incarnation of Papa, slightly different and younger than the previous one. The concept of the band is (or was, until now) strongly based on the anonymity of its members. Ghost can be described as a theatrical rock band not only because of their costumes, but mainly because of their exceptional on-stage performances. Their gigs are called rituals, they are meant to evoke a feeling of divine presence. They are designed to be the simulation of a mess, or rather a black mass.
